A Quick Overview - God Of Malice:
I didn’t expect to enjoy God of Malice, but this audiobook surprised me. Initially, I wasn’t into the plot, as it felt overly dark and detached. However, once I got about halfway through, my perception began to shift. The storyline developed a unique edge that set it apart from typical romance plots. As a result, I found myself wanting to keep listening.
The narrators did a commendable job; their pacing and tone made it easier to connect with the characters. While this was my second accidental venture into a romance audiobook, I can honestly say I don’t regret it. On the downside, the sex scenes were far too descriptive and frequent for my taste. Despite that, the emotional pull of the story made it a worthwhile listen. If you're seeking a bold, emotionally intense story, this God of Malice audiobook review proves it's worth a try.
In-Depth Review - God Of Malice:
Killian Carson and Glyndon King are the central figures in this dark romance audiobook, a story that plays heavily with trauma, passion, and twisted emotional connections.
Glyndon is a young art student burdened by grief after losing a close friend. She also carries deep-seated insecurities—believing she’ll never measure up to her mother’s talent as a painter or match the skills of her artistically gifted brothers, Brandon and Landon.
Killian, in contrast, is a 19-year-old medical student with sociopathic tendencies. He’s cold, calculating, and brilliant at everything he attempts. He lives in a secluded mansion with his equally intimidating companions—Jeremy, Nikolai, and his less-violent brother, Gareth. The tension between Gareth and Killian adds a unique layer to the gang dynamics, hinting at deeper unresolved issues.
The story takes a dark turn early on when Killian finds Glyndon standing on the edge of a cliff, contemplating suicide. Instead of offering comfort, he manipulates her into a sexual encounter. This disturbing moment marks the beginning of an unsettling relationship that slowly evolves. While Killian has a history of using women for pleasure and discarding them, something about Glyndon unsettles him. He begins to follow her, to understand her, and ultimately—despite his violent nature—forms a strange connection with her.
As the story unfolds, it alternates between Glyndon’s and Killian’s perspectives. This dual narrative helps paint a fuller picture of their motivations and emotional turmoil. Although certain events feel detached from reality—and I’ve noted some of these under "Plot Inconsistencies"—the story succeeds in shifting your perception of Killian. From villain to anti-hero, he becomes a character you might just root for.
If you're into dark romance audiobooks that delve into emotional trauma, obsession, and twisted love stories, this one might surprise you—as it did me. Despite the graphic scenes that felt excessive at times, the plot progression and character development held my attention.
